Crypto Firm Omniex Names Former SEC and FDIC Chiefs as Advisors
Crypto-oriented firm Omniex, which provides an investment and trade platform for institutional clients, added former heads of the SEC and FDIC to its team of advisors.
Omniex, a crypto-oriented investment and trading platform aimed at institutional investors, announced that it had named Arthur Levitt, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Sheila Bair, former chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), as members of its board of advisors. In addition, the company hired executives from Thomson Reuters and KCG to boost worldwide adoption of its platform.
Omniex, established in the fall of 2017, provides a trading platform for institutional investors and also offers services like portfolio and risk management, trade execution, and compliance solutions among others. Since its launch, the company has raised $10 million from venture capital firms like Jump Capital, Wicklow Capital, Digital Currency Group, and others.
Now Omniex is making an important step towards the promotion of its platform, which is already used by early clients. The company hired Levitt and Bair as advisors.
Levitt was the longest-serving chairman of the SEC, running the agency from 1993 to 2001. He is currently a Board Member at Bloomberg and Motif Investing. He is also part of the advisor team of KCG, Promontory Financial Group, Blockchain.com, Sofi, and others. He also served as senior advisor at Goldman Sachs.
Bair led the FDIC from 2006 to 2011, receiving several awards, such as the JFK Library’s Profiles in Courage Award. Also, she was named twice the second most powerful woman by Forbes, being surpassed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Omniex hired Maartje Bus as director of Strategic Partnerships. Previously, she worked for Thomson Reuters as head of capital markets. Tom Eidt, who led KCG’s regulatory affairs, has been named chief compliance officer and general counsel.
Omniex CEO and co-founder Hu Liang explained
“Each appointment brings a wealth of capital markets expertise and leadership to our team that will be critical to achieving our mission of empowering institutional investors to seize the opportunities of crypto-assets.
“As we transition from development to global deployment, the strength of our team will ensure we maintain our first-mover advantage,” he added.
